How to rotate PDF pages and save the change
Published October 12, 2026
A scanned page comes out sideways, or one landscape page in a report shows up rotated. You turn it in your PDF viewer, close the file, and next time it's sideways again. That's because most viewers only rotate the view. To fix the page for good, you need to save the rotation into the PDF itself.
Rotate the view vs. rotate the page
- Rotating the view (the rotate button in most browsers and PDF readers) changes how the page is shown on your screen right now. The file doesn't change, so anyone you send it to sees the page sideways.
- Rotating the page writes the new orientation into the PDF. Every app, on every device, then shows the page the right way up.
Rotating a page doesn't redraw or recompress its content. Text stays sharp, and text you could select or search before is still selectable and searchable.
Rotate PDF pages and save them
- Open Rotate PDF and add your file.
- You will see a thumbnail of every page. Select the rotate button on a page to turn it 90° clockwise; select it again to keep turning.
- To turn every page at once, select Rotate all.
- Select Save PDF and download the fixed file.
The file is processed in your browser, so it isn't uploaded. That makes it safe for scans of IDs, contracts and other private documents.
Fix the rest while you're there
Rotate PDF is part of Organize PDF, so in the same view you can also:
- Delete pages, such as blank pages from a double-sided scan. See Delete PDF pages.
- Reorder pages by dragging them into place.
If you need to pull some pages out into a separate file, use Split PDF. To combine the fixed file with others, use Merge PDF.
